António J. S. Teixeira was born in Paredes, Portugal, in September 1968. He received the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering degree, in 1991; the Master degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, in 1993 and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, in 2000, from the University of Aveiro.

Currently, he is an Auxiliary Professor at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the University of Aveiro, and a researcher at the Signal Processing Laboratory of the Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro - IEETA. He is Coordinator of the Master in Speech and Hearing Sciences.

One of the General Chairs of iberSPEECH 2012 (Madrid, Spain), AAL 2012 (Vilamoura, Portugal), FALA 2010 (Vigo, Spain), I Iberian SLTech (2009) and General Chair of  PROPOR 2008 (The International Conference on Computational Processing of Portuguese).

One of the Technical Program Committee Chairs of PROPOR 2012, Coimbra, Portugal. Member of the Organizing Committee and Special Sessions Chair of InterSpeech 2005, Lisbon.

Chair of the Special Interest Group on Iberian Languages (SIG-IL) of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), since 2008. Member of PROPOR  Steering Committee since 2006, President since 2010; Member of the International Council of Luso-Brazilian Association of Speech Sciences (LBASS) (Feb 2007 to Feb 2011 and Feb 2011-Feb 2015).

Member of the Scientifc Committee of linguaMATICA  and of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Speech Sciences.

His main research activity is in the area of Speech Processing. He also has interests in other areas of research such as Human-Machine Interaction and Phonetics.
