Information Systems are currently being used in almost all areas of activity. In some cases, for company-wide solutions, a generic system, such as Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP) or Customer Relationship Management software (CRM), with little or no customization will suffice. In other cases, ERP and CRM need to go through a more tailored approach (and possibly a combination of both) to meet the activity’s needs. However, some areas of activity are not so easily handled by these generic systems: Medical Information Systems and Justice Information Systems are two areas where the best approach relies on specialized software, developed from the start according to the needs of the business. This paper addresses some of the specificities encountered during the analysis, specification and development of the Information System for the Courts of Cape Verde.
