2018/06/19: Automatica 2018

The IEETA participated at the Automatica 2018 (held in Munich, June 19-22) with an exhibitor demonstrating the results of the European EuRoC - European Robotics Challenges project (https://www.facebook.com/RoboticsEU/videos/1852901914767362/).

In this project, the TIMAIRIS team, a partnership between the University of Aveiro and the company IMA SpA from Italy, won the 1st place in the Challenge 2 - Manipulation and Logistics in Industrial Environment, being the 2nd team in the ranking of the 3 Challenges of this project. Automatica 2018 is the largest automation and robotics event in the world and this year had more than 46 thousand visitors and and 890 exhibitors(https://automatica-munich.com/press/newsroom/press-releases/automatica-beats-all-records-again.html).


The award ceremony of the EuRoC disclosed the resulting rankings: FLAAIR (FZI, Opel, MKK), TIMAIRIS (UA, IMA), GRVC-CATEC, TUM-FLYERS, RSAII and PIROS. This event was attended by Juha Heikkila, Head of Robotics Unit at DG-Connect / European Commission, by Bernd Liepert, CIO at KUKA and President of the European Robotics Association, and by Bruno Siciliano, Coordinator of the EuRoC Project (http://www.euroc-project.eu/index.php?id=763).
