Abstract
In the first part of this talk we will review some classic tools in time-frequency analysis, including the windowed Fourier transform, the wavelet transform and the Wigner distribution. Then we relate them to the adaptive time-frequency analysis method: the theory of Huang's Empirical Mode Decomposition(EMD) algorithm and Hilbert transform. Finally we present some results on the time-frequency analysis of nonlinear Fourier atoms.
